YO!!

Today we had a rather crazy day, did a rather stupid but very fun thing. We dressed ourselves rather casually met at the mrt station, went on to city hall (wasn't our planned destination, heez, we didn't plan anything at all actually just by random picked a destination when we reached the station).

the moment we reached city hall, we went up to the raffles city link and got ourselves each a singapore map, walked out of the hotel, put on our sun glasses and started examining the map. "ok, lets see where are we now?" our first test of identity came when the security guard came over to us when we're about to cross over and go to the underground path, that actually leads to the basement carpark... i think he really thought that we're tourists that lived in the westin hotel or at any of the nearby hotels. he directed us to the war memorial park.

first destination.. war memorial park. thats the first time i've been there. very unique place. its like the eye of the hurricane, the most peaceful structure amidst the heavy traffic and all the commercial high rise building. kailing mentioned that her grandfather might be amongst the many civilians killed during the WWII and buried there.

second destination...st andrew's cathedral... at this point of time, i became the navigator of the duo. we made our way into the church, kailing wearing my fisheman's hat and her black sunglasses; me just with the paired of cracked subglasses(thats part of the design!!) the moment we entered the church, this old uncle approached us and asked us in english "Japan? China?"..."From Japan or China", then he showed two small booklets on the history of the church, one in Jap, the other in Chinese.... we've agreed before entering that we're from australia, but migrated there from taiwan. that'll explain why we can speak chinese and english....i like the church for its blue ceiling... but i think its a little too comercialised for a church. in the sense that it has become to much of a tourist attraction that i feel made it lose some of its serenity....

third destination... city hall and supreme court, then parliament house.we didn't really step in but we stood under the hot sun, along with some angmohs reading the tourist sign board along the road.

fourth destination...clarke quay..."i thought the sir stamford raffles statue is black!""hmmm... don't know..." walking along the singapore river in the middle of the day under the scorching sun really isn't half as nice as doing so in the night, walking along the pubs... just walking along... but one thing i like best is the skyline.on the left stands all the high-rise building,DBS, OUB builidng etc, followed by irregular shapes and contours of old ancient chinese builidngs along the river.

fifth destination... mica building, which we suspect is also the national heritage board. MICA stands for Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts. People, in case you have no idea, its the building just before the bridge across the Singapore river, with all those very colourful windows. the entrance leads to this very unique water fountain.

sixth destination.... funan IT mall, this is our mid-point pit stop. we stopped there for lunch. kept all our props and entered the premises to eat McDonalds..!

seventh destination...singapore philatelic museum.. this is our ultimate goal. our plan for the day is to make our way there since kailing has got 2 complimentary tickets and why waste it. i really did enjoy myself in the museum, looking through all the stamps, spotting the errors for stamp printing etc... smelling stamps and coffee beans. we were 2 grown up kids "jumping around" pressing buttons and learning new stuff. kailing even suggested we go up the road to ROM.. i wonder why...

eighth destination.. armenian Church..singapore's oldest church. i prefer this church than that of st andrew's catedral. its very small, very simple.but its very peaceful, it has what st andrew's catedral lack, serenity. i like especially the pebble floor that leads from the entrance all the way in and to the back of the church, a small garden not very well kept though, but very beautiful..

nineth destination.. raffles city.. our starting and ending point. where i finally had a chance to do my christmas shopping. i'm really broke liao after today... and finally i'm more or less done for the christmas party.finally!! oh, yeah, have to go get some party hats and stuff.. than it'll be fun for the night.

tenth destination..bishan home for me,and kathib home for kailing... our legs are breaking..... girls when it comes to shopping will not stop for anything!!

in case no one realised through all my ramblings... we were role playing as tourists =)
